Cimpress launches Windsor, Ont. plant expansion, will create 50 new jobs

Company to buy new offset press, boost Vistaprint brand with close-to million dollar investment from province
WINDSOR, Ont.—Netherlands-based printing company, Cimpress—which produces a wide range of customized products, from business cards to t-shirts—is scaling up its Windsor, Ont. plant with the help of an $894,000 investment from the province’s Southwestern Ontario Development Fund (SWODF).
The company, also known by its brand name Vistaprint, will use the funds to buy a new offset press at the southern Ontario plant, as well as support a wider expansion.
“The new offset press is helping Cimpress reach new markets, including high-end clients and graphic designers,” Kevin Lane, the company’s finance director, said. “It is also helping us improve productivity and reduce product costs.”
Though the financial details of the overall project were not released, the government funding will leverage a commensurate investment from the company. Generally, the SWODF covers up to 15 per cent of project costs.
The Windsor plant was already the largest of Cimpress’s worldwide manufacturing facilities, housing a range of digital and offset presses.
The new machinery will boost production at the site and create 50 jobs.
